The Committee of GRMBC would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to this new club Season 2009-10.

This year we are looking forward to another excellent season of sailing. The club hosts a range of annual events during May to August. Information about these events will be posted on the club notice board and website: www.glasgowrichmondmbc.co.uk.

Membership participation is key to ensuring the success of these events, so we would like to encourage you to get involved and support the work of GRMBC in any way you can.

In return, GRMBC aims to provide you with an opportunity to enjoy a variety of model boating activities. A wide range of interests are catered for within the club i.e. warships, tugs, fishing boats, yachts etc. There is also a strong engineering section which focuses on live steam models.

The club also offers the following excellent facilities:
  • a large all year round sailing pond.
  • a self service cafe-kitchen – providing hot and cold drinks, crisps and biscuits.
  • workshop space - with access to a range of hand tools and machinery.
  • two large open fires - for those cold winter days sailing.
  • a library of model-boating books and magazines.
  • a ‘Sales and Wants’ notice board.
  • toilet and hand-washing facilities on site.
  • easy access for disabled persons, flat tarmac.
  • parking at the pond side.
  • free use of "lifting handles" for launching/retrieving" your model.

In addition to the normal sailing activities, there is a ‘meet’ on the first Sunday of every month for those enthusiasts interested in tugs and tug towing & a ‘meet’ on the third Sunday of every month for those interested in the "Wee Nip" class of yacht sailing.  If you are interested in any of these monthly get-togethers, please come along and take part, visitors most welcome.  The club is always looking for new opportunities to reflect the variety of interests within the club so if you would like to start another monthly meet please speak to a member of the Committee.

GRMBC was established in 1984 and currently has over 70 members of which nine are currently serving as committee members.  A full list of committee members is available on the club house notice board.

This year's committee has established a ‘Club Support Group’ covering all areas of the club's day to day operation such as kitchen duties, building maintenance and care taking, updating the club website. If you would like to get involved in any of the above, please contact a member of the committee.

Finally, we hope you enjoy your membership with GRMBC and we look forward to seeing you by the pond!
