START OF SEASON
REPORT, 2nd MAY 2010
Dear Members.
Our Start of season sail was a tremendous success, the weather gods
looked down on us once again and it remained fine until just before the end
of the show.
We had a fantastic turn out and everything went without a hitch.
The Wee Nip race was a great success (even though there was little wind)
We have once again broken the Scottish record with no less than 18 nips
in attendance with 15 taking part in the actual race, a superb turn out.
Very well done to Ian McNeil who won the race
in very difficult conditions.
We also had a tug towing display, which the public took a great
interested in, it attracted a good number of spectators.

This year we deviated from our usual way of judging the best in show
award, in that we had the general public voting for the most popular model
on display, this was a great success,
so much so that we had to make more voting cards.
The worthy winner was J.Miller of Greenock MBC with his fine model of
the sailing ship Alabama.
The hands on boats were once again in demand, although the rubber ducks
provided by Eddie decided to swim around with the swans rather than
be rounded up by the kids.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members,
for the fantastic effort they made in making the show the success
it most certainly was.
This is the first time I have seen so many members take such an active
part in setting up a show and also with helping out throughout the day.
A magnificent gesture by you all, you should all be justifiably
proud of yourselves as I undoubtedly am.
So.......A VERY WELL DONE lads and lasses.
I'm already looking forward to the next show......The 4th Annual
Scottish Tug-in on June 13th, I look forward to seeing you all there.
Kindest Regards to you all.
Brian.
